ADSL

A company that guarantees its servers will not be shut down even when the request to do so comes from law enforcement agencies.

DDos

Distributed Denial of Service. This is an attack in which thousands of seperate computers bombard a target with bogus data to knock it off the net.

Firewall

A program or feature built into hardware that filters incoming and outbound traffic, stopping net-borne attacks such as worms reaching your PC.

IP Addresses

Internet Protocol - The numerical identifier that every machine attached to the internet needs to ensure the data it requests returns to the right space.

Managed Applications

Managed applications provides the installation, configuration, monitoring and ongoing management of an application.

MPLS

A scheme typically used to enhance an IP network. Routers on the edge of the MPLS network add a label to the top of each packet. This label is based on some criteria and is then used to steer it through the subsequent routers.

Phishing

The practice of sending out email messages that look as if they come from financial institutions and which seek to trick people into handing over confidential details.

RSS Feed

A family of XML file formats for web syndication used by news websites and weblogs.

Spyware

Malcious program that, once installed, steals confidential information. Often arrives via a web download.
